The admission test for the National University for the 2025-26 academic year will begin towards the end of December, said the university's Vice-Chancellor Prof ASM Amanullah. He shared the information in an exclusive interview with The Daily Campus today, Saturday (October 25).
Prof ASM Amanullah said the admission test for the 2025-26 academic year at all affiliated colleges for undergraduate Honours programmes will be held towards the end of December. Like last year, this time too the test will be conducted through multiple-choice questions (MCQ) method.
Meanwhile, according to the UGC's latest 49th annual report based on 2022 statistics, the National University had 9,01,545 seats at the Bachelor's (Pass)/Bachelor's (Honours)/Bachelor's Technical/equivalent levels, with 7,04,196 students admitted, leaving 1,97,349 seats vacant.
On the other hand, only at Bachelor's (Honours)/Bachelor's Technical levels, there were 4,36,090 seats in total, 3,49,715 students were admitted, leaving 86,375 seats vacant.
Earlier, according to the UGC's 48th annual report, in 2021, the National University had 10,09,791 seats at Bachelor's (Pass)/Bachelor's (Honours)/Bachelor's Technical/equivalent levels. And 6,13,133 students were admitted, leaving 3,96,662 seats vacant.
On the other hand, only at Bachelor's (Honours)/Bachelor's Technical levels, there were 5,87,801 seats in total and 3,87,916 students were admitted, leaving 1,99,885 seats vacant.
For context, until the 2014-15 academic year, the university used to admit students through admission tests. However, from the 2015-16 academic year, the National University started admitting students to affiliated colleges based on GPA for the first time. This replaced the first-year admission test with admission based on SSC and HSC results. Prior to that, like other public universities, student admission was done through admission tests at the National University. After a long hiatus, the university resumed admission tests from last year.
