Chittagong University (CU) has imposed a ban on outsiders entering the campus during the Central Students' Union (CUCSU) election, with immediate searches for anyone deemed suspicious.
The decision was announced in an urgent notice signed by CU Proctor Professor Dr. Hossain Shahid Sarwardy on Saturday.
The notice stated that the long-awaited CUCSU and hall union election-2025 will be held on October 15 (Wednesday) after 36 years.
It added that the election has generated interest among national and international media, as well as CU stakeholders worldwide. To ensure the polls are free, fair and peaceful, the administration seeks everyone's cooperation.
In this context, the CU administration has taken a strict stance to control unauthorized entry into the campus. Teachers, students, officers and employees are requested to always carry their ID cards or fee receipts.
The university administration and law enforcers may conduct searches on anyone found suspicious. The notice appealed for cooperation from all.
