The Directorate General of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) is actively addressing demands for increased house rent allowances for MPO-registered teachers in non-government institutions and resolving complications in the BEd pay scale.

“We’re fully aware of teachers’ demands,” DSHE Director General Professor Md. Azad Khan told The Daily Campus in an exclusive interview on Sunday.

Speaking at the World Teachers' Day 2025 event at Osmany Memorial Auditorium in the capital, Khan said a summary on house rent increases has been sent to the Ministry of Education, which will forward it to the Finance Ministry.

“We hope the government will act on the rent hike. We’ll highlight its importance to them,” he added.

On the BEd scale issues, Khan noted, “A committee has been formed with ministry and DSHE coordination. They’re working on it, and the problem will be resolved.”

The demands stem from ongoing disparities in allowances and scales affecting thousands of teachers, with DSHE committing to swift implementation.
