BUP Admission Test May Advance with Other Public Unis: Pro-VC

Among the country's public universities, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) leads the pack in holding admission tests. Continuing that trend, authorities have yet to decide if the test will be conducted first this time around as well. Sources, however, indicated that if other universities advance their admission schedules, BUP will coordinate and initiate its process earlier. Another university source suggested the test could take place around mid-November.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University (DU) has already signalled a two-month advancement for its undergraduate admission test in the 2025-26 academic year. Due to the national election slated for February 2026 and Ramadan, public universities aim to wrap up the entire process this year. Accordingly, the 2025-26 undergraduate admission tests at other public universities could be brought forward compared to last year, following the lead of their peers.

Sources at the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said the results of this year's HSC and equivalent exams will be published around mid-October. On Sunday, Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haidar, controller of examinations at the Dhaka Education Board, told The Daily Campus, “The evaluation of answer scripts is underway. We hope to publish the results by 19 October.”

DU admission officials said the authorities will kick off the process within days of the HSC results announcement. A decision on starting applications will be made within a week of the results. In that case, if results are out by 19 October, applications for the DU admission test could begin in the last week of this month.

On the matter, BUP Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain told The Daily Campus, “We follow the norms of other public universities. If universities across the country advance their admission tests, we will too. No final decision has been taken yet on when the admission test will be held.”
