Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus called upon non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to actively participate in rebuilding the nation through their collaboration and contributions.

Describing NRBs as an integral part of Bangladesh, Yunus said they could play a vital role in advancing the changes brought about by the July Uprising by contributing in their respective capacities.

“We had always planned to involve you and find ways to ensure your engagement. Seeing you all here gives us the confidence to return home with renewed determination,” he told the gathering at the “NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis” program in New York, attended by visiting Bangladeshi political leaders. “It is very easy to speak from the gallery, but we want you to join us on the field and play together,” he added.

“My confidence rose even higher when I saw political leaders agreeing to join us on this visit,” Yunus remarked, referring to figures like BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.

The event, held at the New York Marriott Marquis, began with a presentation by BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, who highlighted Bangladesh’s economic progress over the past 15 months since the July Uprising. Ashiq praised the diaspora for a 21% remittance surge and outlined investment-friendly initiatives, urging continued support and detailing voting for the February 2026 elections.

An interactive panel, “Bridging Borders: Current Affairs and Diaspora Engagement,” moderated by Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi, featured Expatriate Welfare Adviser Asif Nazrul alongside Fakhrul, Taher, and National Citizen Party’s Akter Hossen, who shared visions for post-Uprising Bangladesh. National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman moderated “Shaping Tomorrow: The Future of Bangladesh,” with panelists NCP’s Tasnim Jara, BNP’s Humayun Kabir, and Jamaat’s Nakibur Rahman.

Yunus launched the Shubheccha mobile app, offering NRBs essential services, guidance, and investment opportunities. The event, gathering 500 NRBs from sectors like business, academia, and tech, provided a platform for sharing ideas and strengthening ties.
