Jahangirnagar University (JU) has taken a firm stance against students consuming or dealing in drugs, including ganja, alcohol, or any other intoxicants on campus. The announcement came in a statement issued by the university’s Proctor’s Office on Thursday (September 20).
The statement referenced the Discipline Ordinance 2018 for students, specifically Section 5(d), which prohibits any student from consuming or trading local or foreign narcotics, such as alcohol, ganja, phensedyl, heroin, yaba, or any other narcotic substances in the university campus, departments, institutes, or residential halls.
It further clarified that consuming or dealing in drugs is a punishable offense. Depending on the severity of the violation, penalties may include expulsion from the university, a fine, or both.
The university administration has sought the cooperation of students, teachers, officers, and staff to prevent drug-related activities on campus.
