As the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections approach, the Election Commission has laid down strict rules for candidates. Starting today, Thursday, August 21, 2025, when the preliminary candidate list is published, contenders are prohibited from engaging in specific activities until September 10, 2025. The final candidate list will also be released today, setting the stage for a heated campaign.
In a notice signed by DUCSU and Hall Parliament Election Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, candidates are explicitly banned from participating in any self-initiated service-oriented activities, distributing gifts, offering hospitality, providing financial assistance, or engaging in similar actions on the Dhaka University campus. The notice warns that such activities will be considered a clear violation of the election code of conduct, potentially jeopardizing candidates’ chances.
According to the election schedule, the deadline for withdrawing nomination papers is August 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The final candidate list will be published on August 26 at 4:00 PM. Voting for the DUCSU election is set for September 9, 2025.
