The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has clarified that Azizur Rahman, a rickshaw driver detained in Dhanmondi 32 while offering flowers, is not an accused in any murder case. Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed this on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

According to DMP, Md. Azizur Rahman (27) was detained in Dhanmondi 32 on August 15, 2025. On August 16, he was sent to court as a suspect in a case filed at Dhanmondi Police Station in April. The police noted that misinformation is being spread on social media and various media outlets, falsely linking Azizur’s arrest to a murder case. In reality, the case against him is a routine Penal Code matter. DMP has condemned the misleading portrayal as a murder case as false and motivated.

The police have urged the public to refrain from spreading confusion regarding this issue.
