Milestone Tragedy: Teacher Mahfuza Dies in Plane Crash Aftermath

Mahfuza, a 45-year-old teacher at Milestone School and College in Uttara, succumbed to injuries from a military plane crash on the school premises. She passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 12:45 PM while under treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, as confirmed by resident surgeon Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman.

Doctors reported that Mahfuza suffered burns covering 25% of her body. Her death marks the 19th fatality at the Burn Institute and brings the total death toll from the July 21, 2025, crash to 35, with most victims being children. Currently, 23 patients remain under treatment, while 14 have been discharged.

The incident, involving a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training jet, has sparked widespread grief, with the nation observing a day of mourning the following day.
