ACC Launches Crackdown on Illegal Stone Extraction in Sylhet

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an operation in response to allegations of illegal stone extraction causing damage to state resources in the Sada Pathor area of Bholaganj, Companiganj Upazila, Sylhet. The operation began on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at noon, as confirmed by Tanjir Ahmed, Assistant Director (Public Relations) of the ACC.
Tanjir Ahmed stated that the ACC decided to conduct an enforcement operation following complaints of state resource depletion due to illegal stone extraction in the Sada Pathor area, allegedly facilitated by collusion between unscrupulous local administration officials and political party members. The operation is being led by Nazmus Sadat Rafi, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Sylhet Integrated District Office.
According to a BSS report, Md. Akhtarul Islam, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Public Relations Division, also confirmed that the operation targets the illegal extraction of stones in the Sada Pathor tourist area, which has caused significant harm to state resources due to complicity by elements within the local administration.
