The admission tests for the 2024-2025 academic year at the proposed Dhaka Central University, encompassing seven government colleges in Dhaka, are scheduled for 22 August in the afternoon and 23 August in the morning. Professor AKM Elias, interim administrator of Dhaka Central University and principal of Dhaka College, confirmed this to The Daily Campus on Thursday (24 July).
Professor Elias stated that a meeting finalized the admission test dates, to be conducted in two shifts. The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will provide technical support for the process. Additional key decisions were made during the meeting, and a committee formed for the admission tests will convene again on Saturday to finalize further details. “We expect to publish the admission test circular online shortly after,” he added.
On 9 July, the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education approved the initiation of admission activities for the 2024-2025 academic year. A memorandum signed by Senior Assistant Secretary ASM Kashem, referencing a 7 July memorandum from the University Grants Commission (UGC), stated that admissions for students of the seven government colleges affiliated with Dhaka University will be conducted under the proposed Dhaka Central University framework.
The seven colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnessa Government Women’s College, Government Bangla College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Government Titumir College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College. This initiative marks the beginning of a distinct academic framework for these colleges’ admission and educational activities.
