Eight individuals injured in the tragic Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, remain in critical condition, according to Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. He shared this update during a press conference at the institute on Wednesday afternoon (23 July).

Dr. Nasir reported that 44 patients are currently admitted, including 37 children. Of these, 13 are in severe condition, 23 are in intermediate condition, and eight are critical. "Patients in the intermediate category are expected to recover quickly, while those in critical and severe conditions are under close monitoring," he said. A specialist doctor from Singapore has joined the institute’s team, and a coordinated treatment plan has been established. Patients are evaluated hourly, with their status adjusted between critical, severe, and intermediate categories based on their condition.

The institute has recorded 11 deaths so far, with the latest occurring on Tuesday night (22 July). Dr. Nasir noted that a medical board, including specialists from Singapore, is actively overseeing patient care to ensure optimal treatment.

The crash, which occurred on Monday (21 July) around 1:00 pm, killed at least 32 people, mostly children, and injured over 150, according to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR). The tragedy prompted the postponement of the HSC and equivalent exams for 22 and 24 July, which will now be held on the same day, with the date to be announced soon. Nationwide protests erupted over the delayed postponement, with students demanding the resignation of Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar and the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Education. Clashes at the Secretariat on Tuesday injured at least 75 students and 16 security personnel.
