Tahsin Stuns Singapore Grandmaster in Asian Individual Chess Championship

In the fifth round of the Asian Individual Chess Championship 2025 held in Al Ain, UAE, Bangladesh’s FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia achieved a draw against Singapore’s Grandmaster Jagdis Siddharth in the Open section. Meanwhile, FIDE Master Saklain Mostafa Sajid defeated UAE’s Candidate Master Mohammad Sayid Laily.
However, International Master Manon Reza Neer faced a setback, losing to Uzbekistan’s International Master Suyarov Muhammadzohid. This marked Neer’s first defeat in the ongoing tournament. In the Women’s section, Women’s FIDE Master Noshin Anjum was defeated by Iran’s Women’s FIDE Master Mohammadi Melika.
After five rounds, International Master Manon Reza Neer and FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia have each earned 2.5 points from five games. FIDE Master Saklain Mostafa Sajid has secured 2 points from five games. In the Women’s section, Women’s FIDE Master Noshin Anjum also has 2 points after five rounds.
