- ১৯ জানুয়ারি ২০২৬, ১২:৪০
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) is in the final stages of preparation to publish the ultimate results of the 46th BCS. If all processes proceed as planned, the final recommendations for this BCS may be issued within the last week of January. PSC sources informed The Daily Campus that the oral examinations (viva voce) for successful candidates are currently underway, and administrative activities to release the results as quickly as possible are moving forward simultaneously.
The Three-Step Journey: Preliminary to Viva
A candidate must cross three highly competitive stages to become a BCS cadre. In the first stage—the 46th BCS Preliminary—a total of 337,986 candidates applied. Among them, 254,561 candidates physically sat for the exams held in Dhaka and other divisional cities. According to the re-evaluated preliminary results, 21,397 candidates qualified for the second stage: the written examination.
The written exams were held in July-August 2025, and the results were published on November 27 of that year. Following technical corrections, a final list of 4,050 candidates was nominated for the third and final stage: the oral examination. These 4,050 candidates are currently undergoing their vivas. From this pool, candidates will be recommended for 3,140 vacant posts based on merit and cadre preference.
Cadre Breakdown and Vacancies
The PSC issued the 46th BCS circular to recruit for a total of 3,140 cadre positions. As usual, the highest number of recruitments will be in the Health Cadre: 1,682 Assistant Surgeons and 16 Assistant Dental Surgeons. This is followed by:
-
Education Cadre: 920 posts
-
Administration Cadre: 274 posts
-
Police Cadre: 80 posts
-
Foreign Affairs Cadre: 10 posts
Recommendations will also be made for various positions in other technical and professional cadres.
Speed through Modern Evaluation
The PSC stated that the use of the modern ‘Circular Evaluation System’ for grading written scripts has brought unprecedented speed to the process. While it took 15 months to publish the 44th BCS written results, the 46th BCS written results were released in less than three months. The current Commission is working to maintain this pace to release the final result by late January.
PSC Chairman Professor Mobasser Monem told The Daily Campus, "We are trying our best to reduce the lingering delays in the BCS recruitment process. We delivered the 46th BCS written results in record time. The oral exams are ongoing. Our goal is to publish the final results by the last week of this January, so that thousands of qualified candidates can enter their professional careers quickly."
