Tarique Rahman’s nomination papers submitted for Dhaka-17 constituency

Nomination papers for BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman have been submitted for the Dhaka-17 constituency in the 13th national parliament election.

Abdus Salam, chief coordinator of the BNP election management committee for the constituency, submitted the papers around 12:00 noon on Monday (29 December).

Speaking to journalists after the submission, Abdus Salam said: “For the past 17 long years, our acting chairman Tarique Rahman has been kept outside the country. He has faced oppression and persecution. We seek everyone’s prayers for him.”

He further added: “We firmly believe that in the upcoming election, he will win this constituency by a huge margin and assume the responsibility of leading the government. He will strive to resolve the current crisis the country is facing.”

According to the election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from 30 December to 4 January 2026. Appeals against the returning officer’s decisions can be filed from 5 January to 9 January, with appeals to be resolved between 10 January and 18 January. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 20 January.
