Muhammad Morshed Alam, acting convener of Valuka upazila BNP and joint convener of Mymensingh South district BNP, has resigned from all party positions and announced his decision to contest the upcoming national election as an independent candidate from Mymensingh-11 (Valuka) constituency.
He personally confirmed the decision to resign from his key organisational roles. Morshed Alam made the announcement as chief guest during a dua and milad mahfil held in Jamirdia area of the upazila on Sunday evening (28 December) to pray for the quick recovery of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
On the occasion, he said he does not engage in politics for any position or power. His sole aim is to fulfil the expectations of the common people of Valuka and secure their rights. He added: “No matter what punishment, obstacles or attacks come my way, I will stand by the people and overcome them. I call upon the people of Valuka to support and cooperate with me in the election.”
He further stated that BNP practises politics based on principles and ideals. They believe in the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, love the uncompromising leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia, and have full faith in the ideals of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. He emphasised that he has no involvement in any corrupt or decayed form of politics.
Leaders from various levels of upazila BNP were present at the dua and milad mahfil.
