Dense fog forced eight incoming flights to divert from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday (27 December), as visibility remained critically low.

According to a press release issued by the airport authority, the flights were unable to land safely due to the thick fog and were redirected to alternative airports.

Three flights were diverted to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, four to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, and one to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.

The airport authority stated: “Flight operations will resume normally as soon as weather conditions improve.”

The release also mentioned that the concerned airlines are providing necessary food and hotel accommodation to passengers affected by the delays.

The fog has significantly disrupted air traffic in and out of Dhaka since early morning, with many domestic and international flights facing delays or diversions.

Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates on flight status.
