Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has allocated several important seats to its allied parties as part of seat-sharing agreements within the opposition coalition.

According to party sources, the decision aims to further consolidate the opposition alliance and ensure a united stance in the electoral field.

The candidates who have received BNP nominations include:

  • Dhaka-12: Saiful Haque, General Secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party
  • Bogra-2: Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Nagorik Oikya
  • Patuakhali-3: Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad
  • Jhenidah-4: Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad
  • Brahmanbaria-6: Zonayed Saki, Chief Coordinator of Ganasanghati Andolon
  • Pirojpur-1: Mostafa Jamal Haider, leader of Bangladesh Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar faction)
  • Jashore-5: Mufti Rashid Bin Wakkas, leader of Islami Andolan Bangladesh

Several responsible BNP leaders said the seat-sharing reflects the reality of coalition politics and the need for a unified position in the electoral battlefield. They believe bringing parties with diverse political ideologies and social bases onto a single platform will strengthen the broader democratic movement.

Leaders of the allied parties have welcomed the decision, viewing it as a positive reflection of trust within the opposition coalition. They said the understanding will create opportunities for joint movement and election preparation at the grassroots level. They expressed hope that the move will have a significant impact, particularly in areas where the respective leaders have strong organisational presence and public support.

Political analysts believe that through this seat allocation, BNP is trying to visibly strengthen the opposition coalition on one hand while reaching out to voters from various social and political backgrounds on the other. However, they noted that the actual impact of these decisions will depend on the election environment, administrative role, and overall political situation.

Meanwhile, party sources said formal campaigning and grassroots preparations for the coalition candidates will begin soon.
