BGB seizes two Indian cattle in Panchagarh border operation

In a routine anti-smuggling operation, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized two Indian cattle from the Panchagarh border area.
Acting on secret information, a patrol team of Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion conducted an operation near border pillar 779/1-S in Sardarpada area of Bodah upazila’s Barshashi union on Wednesday (24 December). The cattle were recovered approximately 300 yards inside Bangladesh territory.
According to BGB sources, the two cattle were being smuggled from India and were found abandoned by the smugglers during the operation. The estimated market value of the seized cattle is Tk 2 lakh.
Nilphamari Battalion (56 BGB) sources said that in line with the directives of BGB headquarters, regular patrols and intelligence activities are continuing in the responsible border areas to prevent smuggling. BGB remains firmly committed to stopping all forms of cross-border smuggling from the neighbouring country.
No arrests were reported in connection with the seizure. The cattle have been taken into BGB custody for further legal procedure.
