With BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia undergoing critical treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, security measures have been significantly tightened around the facility amid crowds of leaders, activists and rumours.

Meanwhile, the Special Security Force (SSF) will conduct a trial helicopter landing and takeoff exercise at two open fields adjacent to Evercare Hospital between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm on Thursday (4 December) as per its security protocol.

The government has urged the public to refrain from spreading any misinformation or rumours regarding the exercise.

This was announced in a post on the official Facebook page of the Chief Adviser's Office on Wednesday (3 December). The post stated that the Bangladesh Army and Air Force helicopters will carry out the drill at the two open fields near the hospital.

On Thursday morning, barriers were erected at the hospital entrance to control access. Additional law enforcers have been deployed. Police are stationed at the main gate, SSF personnel inside, while APBN, BGB and RAB are patrolling the surrounding roads. Plainclothes members of various intelligence agencies were also seen in the area. However, no responsible individual has provided an update on Khaleda Zia's physical condition to the media.

Khaleda Zia, 80, has been in critical condition at Evercare Hospital for several days, suffering from multiple complications including kidney failure requiring continuous dialysis. In view of her high status, the government has declared her a Very Very Important Person (VVIP) and placed her under SSF protection.
