Pay Commission to hold crucial meeting with secretaries today
- ২৪ নভেম্বর ২০২৫, ১১:৫৩
The National Pay Commission 2025 will sit with secretaries of various ministries and divisions today (Monday, 24 November) at 3:00pm to finalise recommendations for the new pay scale.
The meeting, chaired by Commission Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan, will be held at the commission’s conference room in Dhaka.
Key discussion points are expected to include:
- Structure and timeline of the new pay scale
- Proposed grades, increments and allowances
- Effective date of implementation
- Fiscal implications and budgetary provisions
- Special facilities for different sectors
Sources within the commission told The Daily Campus that more than half of the draft recommendations have already been prepared. After collecting proposals from employee organisations, the commission is now analysing data and seeking final input from top bureaucrats before submitting its report.
Government employees are closely watching the outcome, calling today’s meeting “decisive”. They expect the commission to finalise its recommendations immediately after this session.
Meanwhile, employee leaders have issued a 30 November deadline for submission of the pay commission report, warning of tough agitation if the deadline is missed. A grand rally has been planned in Dhaka on 5 December to press for immediate implementation of the new pay scale.
The last national pay scale (8th) was introduced in 2015. Employees have been demanding the 9th pay scale since 2023, citing rising living costs.
