In the Himalayan foothills district of Panchagarh, Tentulia recorded 12.8°C at 6:00 AM on Wednesday (November 12)—the lowest temperature of the season so far. This marks a drop of nearly 2°C in just one day, from 14.5°C on Tuesday.
Omar Faruk, in-charge officer at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told The Daily Campus, "At 6:00 AM today, the minimum temperature in Tentulia was recorded at 12.8°C with 99% humidity."
He warned that a cold wave might sweep across the district and the northern regions, including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, and others, toward the end of the month. "During the cold wave, dense fog will blanket the area from evening until 10:00 AM. In some places, fog may persist even during the day," Faruk added.
Though light fog has been observed in mornings and evenings over the past few days, it was slightly reduced on Tuesday. Daytime temperatures reached 29–31°C under bright sunlight, but from dusk to dawn, chilly winds brought a sharp drop in perceived temperature.
With this early sign of winter, people in rural areas have begun pulling out warm clothes. Tea stalls are seeing increased crowds in the mornings and evenings. Locals say, "The winter has already started to set in."
