Medical & Dental Admission 2025-26: Full Circular, Eligibility, Exam Pattern & Seat Breakdown

The admission notice for government and private medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) colleges for the 2025-26 academic year has been released by the Directorate General of Health Education. It was published on its website last night, Monday. Online applications start today, Tuesday (November 11) at 10:00 AM, and will continue until November 21 (Friday) 11:59 PM. The fee submission deadline is November 22 (Saturday) 11:59 PM. The admission test will be held on December 12 (Friday) from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM.

To be eligible, candidates must have passed HSC/‘A’ Level/equivalent in 2024 or 2025 and SSC/‘O’ Level/equivalent in 2022 or later from the Science group. The total GPA from both exams must be at least 8.50, with no single exam GPA below 4.00. For tribal and hill district candidates, the total GPA requirement is 8.00, with a minimum of 3.50 in each exam. A minimum GPA of 3.50 in Biology is mandatory for all applicants.

The MBBS and BDS admission tests will be held on the same day with the same question paper. It is a 100-mark MCQ exam lasting 1 hour 15 minutes. The subject breakdown is Biology (30 marks), Chemistry (25), Physics (15), English (15), and General Knowledge, Aptitude & Human Values (15). There is negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer, and the pass mark is 40.

The merit list will be based on a total of 200 marks. SSC GPA is multiplied by 8 (40 marks), HSC GPA by 12 (60 marks), and the written test is 100 marks. Candidates who passed in 2024 will have 3 marks deducted, and those previously admitted to any government medical or dental college will lose 5 marks.

Key dates include application start on November 11 (Tuesday) at 10:00 AM, application end on November 21 (Friday) at 11:59 PM, fee payment deadline on November 22 (Saturday) at 11:59 PM, admit card download from December 7 to 9 (Sunday to Tuesday), seating plan download from December 9 to 10 (Tuesday to Wednesday), and the admission test on December 12 (Friday) from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM.

This year, 355 seats have been reduced in government medical colleges. The top 9 colleges lost 205 seats in total. Eight premier colleges—Dhaka, Chattogram, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Sylhet MAG Osmani, Barishal Sher-e-Bangla, Sir Salimullah (Dhaka), and Rangpur—each had 25 seats cut, reducing them from 250 to 225. Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College lost 5 seats, now at 225. Other reductions include Habiganj (down 50 seats) and Netrokona, Nilphamari, Naogaon, Magura, and Chandpur (down 25 each, now 50 seats). Seats increased in three colleges: Shaheed Tajuddin (Gazipur) and Tangail (up 25 each to 125), and Patuakhali (up 25 to 100).

Seats remain unchanged in several colleges. Cumilla, Khulna, Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, Faridpur, and Dinajpur each have 200 seats. Pabna, Noakhali, Cox’s Bazar, Jessore, Satkhira, Kishoreganj Syed Nazrul Islam, Kushtia, Jamalpur, and Mugda each have 100 seats. Gopalganj and Manikganj have 125 seats each, and Sunamganj has 75 seats.

Foreign certificate holders (‘O’/‘A’ Level) must convert grades to GPA and obtain an Equivalence Certificate. They need to submit an application with a Tk 2,000 bank draft or pay order to the Medical Education Branch, DGME (Room 204, Old Building, 2nd Floor, Mohakhali, Dhaka) by November 18 at 5:00 PM.
