Medical Seats Cut by 205 in Top Colleges: Full List by Institution

The Health Education Directorate has published the admission circular for government and private medical and dental colleges for the 2025-26 academic year. Online applications begin tomorrow, Tuesday (November 11), until November 21. The admission test is on December 12.

However, a total of 722 seats have been reduced in government and private medical colleges, including 355 in government institutions. While three colleges gained 75 seats, the top 9 medical colleges have lost 205 seats.

According to the circular, eight premier colleges saw a cut of 25 seats each, from 250 to 225. These are Dhaka, Chattogram, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Sylhet MAG Osmani, Barishal Sher-e-Bangla, Dhaka Sir Salimullah, and Rangpur Medical Colleges. Additionally, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College was reduced by 5 seats from 230 to 225.

Other reductions include Habiganj Medical College (50 seats) and Netrokona, Nilphamari, Naogaon, Magura, and Chandpur Medical Colleges (25 seats each, now 50).

The three colleges with increased seats are Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College in Gazipur, Tangail Medical College (25 each, now 125), and Patuakhali Medical College (25, now 100).

Other medical colleges remain unchanged: 200 seats each in Cumilla, Khulna, Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, Faridpur, and Dinajpur Medical Colleges; 100 seats each in Pabna, Noakhali, Cox's Bazar, Jessore, Satkhira, Kishoreganj Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam, Kushtia, Jamalpur, and Mugda Medical Colleges; 125 seats each in Gopalganj and Manikganj Medical Colleges; and 75 seats in Sunamganj Medical College.
