Although the admission policy for the 2025-26 academic year in government and private medical and dental colleges has been prepared, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has not yet published the admission circular. It is learned that the circular will be released today, Sunday, if the health adviser gives approval.

Sources from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the DGHS said seats in government and private medical colleges are being reduced. However, the health adviser's approval has not yet been obtained on this matter. Relevant ministry officials will seek the adviser's approval today, Sunday. The admission circular will be published after that.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an official of the DGHS told The Daily Campus last Saturday, "The matter of reducing seats in medical colleges requires approval from the secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Division and the adviser. We are trying to do this tomorrow, Sunday. If approval is received tomorrow, the circular will be published on Monday."

Confirming that the medical and dental admission circular is ready, the official further said, "The circular is prepared. It has also been decided in which newspapers it will be published. We are only waiting for the approval of the adviser and the secretary. The circular will be published immediately Volks after getting approval on the decision to reduce seats." He also said that it may be published online before publication in newspapers.

This year, applicants will have three options: Medical only, Medical + Dental, or Dental only. They can choose during application and select colleges accordingly.

Sources said selecting "Medical only" shows 37 government medical colleges. "Dental only" displays 9 institutions (dental colleges + medical colleges' dental units). "Medical + Dental" lists 46 institutions, allowing preference ranking.

For 2025–26, 816 seats (408 government, 408 private) may be cut in medical colleges, per the October 26 admission committee meeting.

The Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) has released the full policy: 200-mark exam (100 marks from SSC + HSC total GPA; minimum combined GPA 8.50, Biology 3.50; 8.00 for backward communities). Second-timers lose 3 marks (general) or 5 (medical enrolled). 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer.

Written test (100 marks): Biology (30), Chemistry (25), Physics (15), English (15), GK/Aptitude/Human Qualities (15). Passing mark: 40. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

5% seats reserved for backward communities, 5% for disabled meritorious students. 224 foreign seats: 125 SAARC, 99 non-SAARC.

2024 and 2025 HSC passers are eligible. Second-timers from those years qualify.
