GPA Requirements Relaxed for BUTEX Admission Test

Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) has announced the admission circular for the 2025-26 academic year’s first-year BSc in Textile Engineering program across 11 departments under various faculties. The notification, signed by Acting Registrar Dr. Rasheda Begum Dina, was issued today, Thursday.

Applications will open on November 11, 2025, at 10:00am and close on December 12, 2025, at 12:00 midnight. Candidates must pay a Tk 300 fee and apply online. For the Science stream, applicants need a minimum GPA 4.50 in HSC/equivalent (out of 5.00) with combined grade points in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English totaling 17.50 out of 20 (down from 18.50 last year), plus at least 3.50 in each subject.

The eligible list will be published on February 20, 2026. Admit cards can be downloaded from February 23 to 30, 2026 (until 10:00am). The written test is on January 9, 2026 (Friday, 10:30am–12:30pm).

The test (200 marks) includes Mathematics (60), Physics (60), Chemistry (60), and English (20). Top 4,500 scorers will proceed to oral interviews; those below 40% will be disqualified.

For 2025-26, BUTEX will admit 630 students across 11 departments:

  • Yarn Engineering, Fabric Engineering, Wet Process Engineering, Apparel Engineering, Textile Engineering Management: 80 seats each.
  • Textile Fashion & Design, Industrial & Production Engineering, Textile Machinery Design & Maintenance, Dye & Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science & Engineering: 40 seats each.
  • Textile Materials Engineering: 30 seats.
