Student Welfare Society Haimchar Honours Meritorious Students
The Student Welfare Society Haimchar hosted a felicitation ceremony and iftar programme to recognise meritorious students of the upazila. The event was held on Saturday, 29 March, at the auditorium of Durgapur High School.
The ceremony was graced by AZM Azizur Rahman, former BEPZA member and Chief Advisor of the Student Welfare Society, Haimchar, as the chief guest. Special guests included Md Mahbub Ul Alam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and advisor to the society, and Abul Kalam Azad, former Comptroller and Auditor General and society advisor. Upazila Executive Officer Umme Salma Nazneen Trisha presided over the event, which was moderated by Saleh Ahmed, General Secretary of the society. Nazmul Al Hosen, President of the organization, delivered the welcome address.
Speakers included Mofizur Rahman Babul, President of the Haimchar Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association; Abdul Mannan Shikder, General Secretary of the association; Mokhlesur Rahman Mukul, former Assistant Professor of Haimchar College; Md Farukul Islam, Headmaster of Nilkomal High School; Ibrahim Khalil Shamim, Founder-President of the society; Md Mainuddin Ahmed Sohag, Upazila Agriculture Officer of Sonagazi, Feni; Md Zillur Rahman Jewel, Executive Council Member; Nure Alam, Associate Professor at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University and former General Secretary; Rafiqul Islam, Senior Officer of Sonali Bank and former Vice-President; and Sardar Mohammad Sohel, former President. Additional remarks were made by former Vice-Presidents Mawdud Hasan, Bulbul Ismail, Md Enamul Haq, Abu Sayem, and Farukul Islam.
The event celebrated students who gained admission to public universities, medical colleges, and BUET, as well as those who secured a GPA of 5 in the 2024 SSC examinations. The students also received career guidance to support their future endeavours.
Speakers urged the students to pursue academic excellence while contributing to social welfare initiatives. The programme concluded with the presentation of mementos to the honoured students.
