On 7 May, Startup Bangladesh Limited (SBL), the venture capital arm of the ICT Division, announced a significant investment in Shikho, a rising EdTech star, to drive AI-powered education across the country. This funding pushes Shikho’s total capital raised beyond $8 million, as per an SBL press release.
The partnership aims to accelerate Shikho’s development of AI-driven learning tools, expanding access to quality education in both urban and rural areas. The investment will fuel Shikho’s mission to deliver a modern, mobile-first learning platform, transforming education for millions of students nationwide.
Shahir Chowdhury, Shikho’s Founder and CEO, called the government’s support a “game-changer.” “This validates our vision and fuels our drive to reshape learning with AI, empowering students, teachers, and schools across Bangladesh,” he said.
The funding round also saw contributions from private investors, including local angels Wasikur Rahman, Kazi Zeeshan Rabeth Hasan, and Kazi Zahin Shahpar Hasan. Shish Haider Chowdhury, Chairman of SBL and ICT Division Secretary, emphasized, “Shikho’s innovative approach aligns with our goal to build scalable, inclusive digital learning solutions. This investment strengthens our commitment to empowering every student through technology.”
